My friend Mark owns Trailblazers, a camping and outdoor store in Cochrane. He sells lots of good stuff and has been gracious enough to help me out with some gear for the Quest. He's given me 2 boxes of handwarmers, a pair of gloves, 4 pairs of socks and a very special pair of sunglasses. These glasses are made by AXE a Japanese company that recently went bankrupt. The packaging on the product carried two very interesting motivational sayings; the first "One step forward, for victory in your hand" and the second "Superior technology to be sure of a great landing". If that doesn't put a zip in your step I'm not sure what will!

Back in the deep freeze for today's run. Three layers on the bottom, five layers on the top plus a balaclava and mask. The day itself was stunning, little wind and a crystal clear sky. I was back on the old route and that was just fine. I felt good and the km's just ticked by. At the 30km mark, runner John joined me. John's from England and is a sports psychologist. We discussed the importance of having goals within a race or event and building for success.

One day to go this week and it's off to Cambrian Heights School tomorrow.

Quote of the Day

"There is the truth about the marathon and very few of you have written the truth. Even if I explain to you, you'll never understand it, you're outside of it."
