  • Temperature C: -18C (with wind chill)
  • Distance covered to date: km (m): 126.6km (78.6m)

Monday morning and no other runners were with me at the start, very lonely. It was still pretty cold but as I left the 1A and headed up Grand Valley road the sun came up. I looked back towards the sun and next to it was a sun dog, a vertical rainbow shooting up to the sky. The sun lasted about half an hour then ice mist moved across the rolling foothills, the road became a little slick and I ran along the snow encrusted soft shoulder 'till I hit the intersection of the 280.

This section of road cuts through a woods and to my left I noticed one fresh set of large tracks and a smaller set of tracks. After about 1km the smaller set of tracks disappered. Who was the hunter : Couger, Wolf, WereRabbit????

At km 23 I met my friends Kevin and Kathy, and kathy had decided to run with me. She mentioned that they wanted to sponsor one of the marathons and had picked Feb 14th, Valentines day. Great choice.
