Another chilly morning in the foothills of the Rockies. I don't mind starting off with a few extra layers but, with the days getting shorter, it means going out in the dark. However, the payoff comes 30 mins later when the sun rises above the horizon. This morning the reds, purples and oranges were highlighted on the low clouds. This spectacle only lasts about 10 mins then the yellows take over. It was back on the Cochrane pathways again today. The Pace Car is undergoing surgery and won't be out of the emergency ward for a few more days. I spent the morning travelling the red rock paths and then it was back to the house for a cup of tea and a sausage roll.
The final 14km would be the "Ice Cream Route". Back to the paths then into Cochrane. I arrived at Mackay's at 3.00pm and was greeted with a suprise. Over the last six months many people have asked me what ice cream flavour I would like that was not available. The answer has always been the same: Bacon and Eggs. Little did I know that in a secret lab inside the Mackay's ice cream factory, somewhere in Cochrane, they had been working on the formula. In the store, I was presented with an unmarked tub. I asked for a scoop to be placed in a chocolate waffle cone and I headed out. The ice cream is an egg based natural product with bacon bits. The taste: Amazing. It has that sweet and salty vibe. Definately two thumbs up! Time to crank up the production line.
