Below are the Latest Marathon stats:
Today, I visited Captain John Palliser School. It goes from Kindergarten to grade 6 and has 350 students. At the start of 2010 I had planned on running at 40 schools. To date, I have visited 43 schools and run with over 8,000 children. I have another 11 booked before the end of the year. I would now like to run at a total of 60 school. I still have 6 dates available and would like to ask any student, parent, teacher or principle to contact me if they would like me to run at their school. The dates left are:
All you have to do is email me at mjparnell@shaw.ca and book a date. I will send you an infomation package which will include posters, leaflets and running certificates. See you on the field.
I arrived in the dark at Captain John Palliser School and met caretaker Rob. He let me into the school and I prepared for the day. Assembly was at 9.15am so I managed to get in 10km before I chatted with the kids. Assistant Principal Marilyn introduced me and I told the kids about my adventure in Africa and running to date. All through the day I ran with the children. The usual topics of food, siblings and pets came up. One grade 3 girl Madelaine knew lots about animals and she told me about a species of bird which picks bits out of crocodiles teeth. Silly bird.
