Had some great news yesterday. West Jet has agreed to fly me to Yellowknife and run at Ecole St Patrick High School. I lived in Yellowknife in the early eighties and my friend Gerard is a teacher there. We've booked Friday November 26th for the marathon. I had better take some extra hand warmers with me.
We've definately had a change in the weather. Time for the marino wool under shirt and long johns. Today, I was off to Alex Munro School and I was looking forward to meeting up with student Nikayla. I had meet Nikayla ,her mum and grandma at the Ironman 70.3 triathlon expo a year ago August. Sue and I were running our Right To Play booth and Nikayla helped during the day. When I arrived at the school, Nikayla and her grandma Dawn (AKA Pink Lady) were waiting for me. We found a route around the soccer field and it was easy to follow, due to the footprints in the frosty grass. Dawn is planning to go to Las Vegas, in early December, to run the half marathon.
The school assembly wasn't until 1.30pm so I had lots of time to do some kms. After 14kms I came in for a chewy bar. Unfortunately I had forgotten the bars but all was not lost. On the table in the staff room was a bowl of Halloween candy. I enjoyed a feast of mini Smarties, Aero, Kit Kat and Coffee Crisps.
