Below are the Latest Marathon stats:
On February 17th 2008, Lindsay Kimmett was killed in a car accident. Lindsay was 26 years old and had a zest for life. She loved hockey, was training to be a doctor and had climbed Kilimanjaro. Her family have set up a foundation in her name and today was the Monumental Tournament of Aces at the Gleneagles Golf Club. MainStreet Pharmacy, owned by her dad, Kelly, had sponsored my run for $2,500 and part of my route would be on the golf course.
The day started at 8.30am at Guy's newly renovated Bakery. A group of 12 of us headed up to Fosters and I knew I would see my nemesis, The Alsatian. As we approached the farm I could hear the dog growling, but it's such a coward. Because there was more than one person it stayed hidden behind the wood shed. My next stop was Mackay's ice cream. Only ten flavours left before I've accomplished "Ice Cream Quest 47".
At 2.00pm I headed up to the golf course and met Kelly. It was a stunning day, blue skies and hot. I had 14km to go so I ran up and down the 9th fairway path. In the evening was a meal and silent auction. Kelly had asked me to say a few words so after the meal I started to think about what I would say. Kelly's son Reid was telling the audience about the annual hockey tournament. Then he called me up to the stage and presented me with a cheque for Marathon Quest 250 / Right To Play for $5,000. Unbelievable.
Ice Cream Quest 47
