Today, I had the opportunity to run with a group of Canadian and Peruvian students from Canada World Youth (CWY). This organization is a world leader in the development of international educational programs for youth aged 15 to 25. These students work in Africa, Latin America, Asia, the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe. Since 1971, the CWY program has made it possible for more than 33 000 young people from 67 countries to have safe and meaningful international experiences, learn about other cultures, and contribute to the well-being of their own communities.
I met them under the Olympic Arch in Eau Claire Market at 12 noon. It was a cooking hot day and most of them weren't really prepared to run. Pretty much all of them had jeans and cotton T shirts. Not a technical shirt in sight. The plan was to run 2.5km to the CBC building, do an interview for the noon hour show and then come back. Unfortunately, the interview got canned at the last minute but we still stuck to our original route. As we cruised along the pathways, we skirted around the construction of the Calgary Peace Bridge. There were many questions and a lot of good discussion. I will go into the details of this chat in Friday's blog. It really is a nice red.
