Another tough day. My plan was to stay close to home and drop in on a couple of people, during my marathon. The first part of the route was going to be from my house to Spray Lake Sport Centre. This would be a 7km section along the Bow and a very pleasant start to the day, or so I thought. The first 1km was ploughed, but then nothing. I started trudging through the chopped up snow, lots of holes and uneven ground. It seemed crazy to me that there's all this talk about not using your vehicle but the one pathway through the town is almost unusable. I got to Spray Lake over an hour later and had a chat with Facility Manager Rob. I had intended to use the pathways system for the final marathon but after today I've changed my mind. Now I'll use a 1km ploughed section, through the unleash park (lucky dogs!) and back to the centre.
After chatting with Rob I headed into town to Trailblazers. This store carries lots of good stuff for outdoor activities. Owner Mark has been a great supporter of Marathon Quest 250 and today was his birthday. I had dedicated today's marathon to him and signed the run bib. Mark plans to have a raffle at the last marathon and give away lots of prizes. All proceeds to go to Right To Play. I said cheerio to Mark and ran past Mackay's ice cream store. I was tempted to pop in but thought that the ice cream may taste better on a warmer day.
