Early Thursday morning, Sue and I boarded a West Jet flight at Calgary Airport. Our itinerary would take us to Edmonton then up to Yellowknife. As we waited at gate 50, a group of Roughrider fans prepared to board. The Grey Cup is scheduled for Sunday and these fans were ready for a big weekend in Edmonton. We arrived in Yellowknife in the early afternoon and the first thing we heard about was the " Big Fuel Crisis". The icebridge has not come in and the fuel tankers have not been able to reach the city. The afternoon was spent chatting with students at St Pat's and Sir John Franklin High Schools. Friday was going to be a busy day.

On Friday morning, my friend Gerard took me over to CBC Radio. Presenter Jocelyn took me outside and did an interview, as we ran around the station. Next stop was CJCD Radio. It was then over to St. Pat's for the marathon. A number of teachers and students joined me and we started on a 1km loop around the school. The temp was good at -21C and half the marathon was completed by 12noon. Reporter Terry from the Yellowknifer newspaper came over and we had a chat. In the afternoon a group of us headed down to Old Town on Lathum Island. It's a short day up here. The sun rose at 9.30am and sunset was at 3.30pm. Not a big window in which to complete a marathon.

A: To show everyone he wasn't chicken!
