Below are the Latest Marathon stats:
My second school of the week was on the other side of Calgary so it reqiured an early start. I hit the road at 6.30am and arrived at West Dover School at 7.30am. I had been in contact with Teacher Jason and he told me that his grade 4/5 students had been studying the Marathon Quest 250 website and they had some very insightful questions. I started running at 7.45am and found the smallest loop, around the school, that I have ever run. In total it was 250m, lots of turns. At 10.10am I went in and met the Grade 4/5 class. The kids call Teacher Jason, Mr.S and his student teacher is Mr. H. The kids had filled a bullitin board full of facts and quotes from the website so I knew the questions would be tough. The first one awas a zinger "How healthy is Poutine?" I explained the health value of potatoes and cheese, and what's not to love about gravy?
It was time to get back running. All through the day students joined in on what we called "Loop the Dover". They cheered and yelled "Hey, Ho, Let's go!" One kindergarten student asked me five time where was I born and it never changed each time I told her England. One young fellow really impressed me. He was in Grade 6 and his name was Jach (pronounced Josh). Six years ago he and his family had come over from Sudan. As I finished my run he came up to me and gave me $3.95 to donate to Right To Play. Sure makes you think.
