I decided on Friday that I would not go to Yellowknife for the Rock and Ice 50km snowshoe ultra. My shin's been feeling pretty good but I just couldn't see myself doing that distance, in -30C, with a good chance of a recurring injury. I was pretty disappointed, so to cheer myself up I waited by my computer and 10.01am, Saturday morning, I snagged 2 tickets to see Eddie Izzard when he visits Calgary on May 14th. Maybe we can run a marathon together?
This morning I felt good. My thoat was still a little raspy, but the stomach had settled down. I headed into Calgary and had a great run on the Bow River Pathways. Loads of runners, walkers and bikers out enjoying the spring weather. As I passed the Zoo I could hear the kids yelling as the anamatronic dinosuars roared at them.
Avatar "Marathon Martin" has been making good progress. He recently passed through Dryden, Ontario on his virtual route across Canada. At the Tourist Information Center he came across Max the Moose, the biggest moose in Canada. Some of the key details about Max are below:
