Today, nothing happened on the run. It wasn't too cold or too hot. My shins and ankles felt fine. My nutrition worked well. So, let's talk about what I saw during the 6 hrs I was on the pathways. I headed West along the Bow River, from the Shouldice Pool. It was a tough climb to start but it opened out to a terrific view of the river valley. I came across a couple with a large group of dogs. Normally I'm very wary of dogs, but these were well behaved. Further along I spotted a baby's hat, with a bear logo, strung up on a fir tree. The turn about point is below the Stoney Trail overpass and the out and back is 16km. Back at the pool I stripped off my running tights and light coat, had a coffee and Snickers bar and headed East toward Eau Claire Market.

The ice is receding from the river and there are many more pairs of geese hanging out along the banks. They're not scared of anything and honk and spit at you if you get too close. I was soon cooking in my long-sleeve, marino wool top, so that had to go. I had a few runners say hi and wish me luck which is great. At km 32 it was time for a spiniche, cheese and bacon scone at the Good Earth cafe. On the way back to the pool, I spotted some very cool graffiti on the wall of a water pump station, by the river. Next time I'll have to scramble down and get a photo. I arrived back at the car at 3.30pm. By then I was down to a singlet and shorts. Not much to add, nothing happened today.
