Below are the Latest Marathon stats:
These walking marathons take a long time. Normally when I go to a school I can complete the marathon with-in the school day, 9.00am to 3.00pm, but not now. This morning I headed out at 6.30am, knocked off 9kms then jumped in the car and headed 35km west to Morley Community School. Teacher Adrienne had asked me to come and talk to her grade 3 class. She had also asked me to bring a spare Avatar "Marathon Martin" for the Virtual Map. No problem, I have a box of them. I met Teacher Adrienne at 8.45am and explained to her class of twenty grade 3ers what I was doing and why. We all headed out and the walk began.
The one thing about walking is that the kids can join you and they love to chat. To complete my marathon I had to do 50 laps around the school and all through the day, students from various grades joined me. Some would do 1 lap, several others did 5 plus. Grade 3 student, Brody, kept coming back and he must have completed 10 laps. Grade 4 student Ivana, had lots of questions about what I was doing and what food I liked but she also had some other interests. She wanted to know "as a child did I now what I wanted to do when I became an adult?". I told her that I had always wanted to travel, to see other lands and people. Later, a group of Grade 2's came along and we told knock-knock jokes. I met Principal Laura and several other teachers as I went round and round. At 3.15pm the school busses rolled in and the marathon was done. Thanks everyone at Morley Community School for making me so welcome.
Llama Facts (This is no Joke)
Most common noise made by llamas is a hum - both when happy or stressed. It's also how they communicate with their babies.
