My legs felt a little fragile this morning, as I ate breakfast and filled my hydration pack. The long down hills at Boston had pummeled the quads and I tried to massage them to loosen them up. The temp was already 8C when I left the house and, by the time I reached the Shouldice Pool, it was 14C. After a slow start, I soon warmed up. My old friends the geese welcomed me back with hisses. Good to see you too. Coffee and zuccini muffin at the Good Earth, then off down the Elbow River pathways. The shirt was soon off and I was down to singlet and shorts. The legs eased up but it was a grind to the end. A little bit of redness on the shoulders and arms, better use more +30 block next time.
Avatar "Marathon Martin" has made it to the boarder city of
Sault Ste Marie, Ontario on his vitual run across Canada. While he
was passing through, he decided to visit the biggest baseball in
the world. The Soo Minor Baseball Association is proud to own this
baseball which is located at the main entrance of their fields on
Black Rd. in Sault Ste. Marie. Some stats of the baseball
include:
- Diameter: 10' 0" / 3.0 m
- Weight: 8,620 lbs / 3,910 kg
- Material: Double walled steel plate
- The stitches are 16" / 40.6 cm long.
- The surface area is 314 sq.ft. / 29.2 m2 (almost 2000 times
larger than a real baseball.)
- In existence since April 7, 2004
This ball matches in proportion to the bat in Kentucky at the
Louisville Bat Company.
