During my 87 marathons, I've seen many signs; speed signs, do not enter signs, pathways signs, event signs. But today I spotted a sign that completely bamboozled me. I had started the day at the Shouldice Pool and headed west. This route from the pool to the Stoney flyover is one of the most picturesque sections of the Calgary Pathway System. It's a little hilly for 3km but then flattens out and takes you, for 5km's, through several parks along the Bow River. It was while I was on a walk break through one of the wooded sections that I saw this little plaque on a post (see below).

It's a dog in a lab coat with glasses and a clip board. Do dogs need glasses? Are there doggy contact lenses? Are all dogs right handed? What is he / she writting on the clip board? The plaque states that this is a "Pilot Test Area". What is being tested in this area? Why does it require a dog in a lab coat with glasses and a clip board?. I continued on my way and spotted two other signs. One had a dog in a jacket and tie with the words "Off Leash Area". The other had a dog in sunglasses and beach shorts with the words "Off Leash Area". I quickly moved out of this area and was soon relieved to see a good old red Stop sign.
