The thunder and lightning storm hit around 4.00am, rattling the windows and waking me up. The rain was hammering on the glass and all I could think about was starting off in this. I woke up again at 6.00am and the rain had stopped. Huge dark clouds were rolling across the sky, but at least there was no precipitation. At 6.30am, the door bell rang. It was Reporter Tasha and Cameraman Mark from Telus TV. They wanted to do a "Day-in-the-life" of Marathon Martin, so they came early. They videod me making and eating breakfast, preparing my hydration pack and putting on all my gear. Tasha and I headed out, down the 1A, and Mark shot a bunch footage of us running. They had another story to do in Cochrane: Mackay's Ice Cream, my favourite shop.

Larry Macon, a 64yr old lawyer from San Antonio, Texas runs marathons and a lot of them. As reported in Runners World:

"Macon has stacks of bib numbers, boxes of finishers' medals, and millions of frequent flyer miles to show for his efforts. And now he owns a Guinness World Record. In 2008, Macon ran 105 races of 26.2 miles or more-the most anyone has ever run in a year. (The previous record was 100). Macon says the achievement is a reflection of his logistical skills rather than his athleticism."

I've been asked if my 106 marathons is a Guinness World Record and the answer is no. I've run a combination of races, a measured course and my own routes (schools and events). Larry's are all official races. So well done Larry and long my you reign.
