Will it ever end? I didn't need the newspaper to tell me what the weather was going to be today. I just stuck my hand out the front door and it got wet!!!!! Big day today. The Town of Cochrane's 107th birthday. The Town had sponsored a marathon and, rain or shine, it was going ahead. Sue and I headed down to the Ranche House and set up the Right To Play banner and table. A group of us headed off at 7.30am, heading down the gravel path towards the creek. I had planned out a 2.5km out and 2.5km back route and we completed the first one in just over 40mins. After a couple of loops, it was time for the official cake cutting ceremony. Mayor Truper said a few words and I got to met Seamus, a labrador pup who has just become part of the K9 unit. The rain was relentless so I just kept going. I had another appointment at 4.00pm.
I had the honour of being invited to the Right To Play Red Ball charity Golf Tournament. I couldn't make the golf but could make the meal. This is a large fundraiser for RTP and 32 Olympians were part of the 100 plus crowd. Beckie Scott talked about the role of RTP and several Olympians talked about their experiences in Africa. A silent auction was held during the reception and the highlight of the evening was Jon Montgomery acting as auctioneer for a number of excellent trips.
