We've reached the mid point in the year and I've run 119 marathons. I've got 131 to do in the second half of the year. I'd better pick up the pace!!!!!!

Big day today, I crossed the 5000km mark since starting on Jan 1st. A number of kids have asked me to show them what this distance represents and the virtual map on the home page gives a good indication. Below are some travel destinations that you might find interesting. If you jumped in your car and drove 5000 kms these are the trips you could do:

Canada: Vancouver, BC to Chicoutimi, Quebec
USA: Bangor, Maine to Barstow, California
Europe: Lisbon, Portugal to Sivas, Turkey
Australia: Cairns, Queenstown to Busselton, Western Australia
Africa: Cape Town, South Africa to Zanzebar, Tanzania

Another way to look at it is, if you jumped in your car now and drove at 100km/hr for 50 hours (not including burgers, cokes, gas and washroom time) you'd cover 5000 kms.

I had mentioned a couple blogs ago that the Mazda RX8 pace car had a rattle in the gear box. Well, it turned out to be a bit more than a rattle. I was told that the engine was fried and has to be replaced. Fortunately Mazda has an excellent 96 month / 160,000kms warrenty on the engine and they will replace it. Also they'll give me a rental while the work is being down. Now that is one good company. Zoom, Zoom.
