Today had three parts: A half marathon, the World Cup, a half marathon. But let's start at the very beginning, it's a very good place to start. Sue and I headed into Calgary at 6.15am this morning, for the Stampede Road Race. I had been invited to run the half marathon by Dr. Peter Nieman, a Pediatrician at the Pediatric Weight Clinic in Calgary. At the start line, we met Dr. Peter and off we went. The day was overcast which made it a good temp for running. Dr. Peter was interested in MQ 250 and we talked about execise and kids. Sue and I crossed the line in 2hrs 27min, a good morning's work.

Then back to Cochrane for a World Cup party. A few friends dropped over and it was on with the game. What a disappointment. Not just the result, but the game as a spectacle, borrrrrrrrrring!!!!! 1 goal, 27 bookings and 1 sending off. There were more dives than at an Olympic high board competition!!!!!!!! As they fell to the ground the HDTV caught, in Super Slow motion, the incredible pain of the tackle, in their faces. It reminded me of the Edvard Munch painting "The Scream". The first and only goal at 116mins, over at 122mins!!!!

I had to work some frustrations out so off I went on the second half marathon. Up hill and over dale. Then along the river bank and through the woods. There at the end of the path was ye olde Mackays ice cream store. Home made ice cream just like my granma used to make. Back home in 2 1/2 hours and time for tea.

Ice Cream Quest 47

The challenge is to try all 47 flavours at Mackay's ice cream store before midnight December 31st.

Today's flavour #10: Coconut Delight
