What a difference a day makes. Yesterday was a bit blah, same old, same old. Today, I headed out to Canada Olympic Park on the West side of Calgary and had a blast. I got there at 7.30am. This was a little before the day campers arrived, so I decided to head up to the top of the ski jump and check it out. Climbing the hill alongside the jump got me thinking about the 1988 Olympics and Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards. I've talked about him before and I'll talk about him again. We seem to have lost that "give it a go" attitude. All the pro sports are like fish bowls. We look in and the fish swim around. However there is hope. The marathon is one sport where you can run with the best. You want to run with Haile Gebrselassie, men's world record holder then sign up fpr Berlin. You want to hang out with Paula Radcliffe, women's world record holder then enter the London lottery.

I met Nattalie in the big day camp tent. She said that Team Austria would be going out exploring at 10.30am and that I was welcome to join them. I did a few loops of the complex and on one loop found a lucky $5 note. I wasn't sure what to do with it, buy Enbridge shares or buy a latte?. I decided to buy a latte and I didn't spill any!  At 10.30am I met up with Megan and Grace, the group leaders, and six lads aged 7 to 12. We headed off to the east side of the park and spent a couple of hours following trails through the bush. We found a burnt out snow tractor and car. They then went off to play camouflage and I headed home. As they say, today's marathon was the propverbial walk in the park.
