After a very enjoyable three-day break, it was time to hit the pavement. I had flown from Calgary to Toronto on Saturday, then driven to Sudbury. On Sunday I hung-out with Kristina, my daughter, and grandson Nathan. The lad is one year old and is trying to walk. On Monday it was off to Sault Ste Marie, to meet up with my son, Kyle, and his girlfriend April. The plan was to meet at 8.00am the next morning, in the lobby of the Quality Iinn and head out to do a marathon together.
Kyle was there at 7.45am and by 7.55am we were heading towards the water. We had decided to walk the boardwalk along the lock system. Sault, Ontario lies across from Sault, Michigan and the International bridge seperates the two. We made our way towards the bridge and crossed a canal to Whitefish Island. This was a beautiful spot with ducks and beaver dams. We established a 7.5km loop and for the rest of the day, completed loop after loop. The biggest challange was the weather. Waves of rain then sun came at us and jackets kept coming on and off. Kyle did great. He's more of a mountain biker than a walker but he hung in there and completed the whole thing.
